Nick & Jessica

This wedding day was absolutely amazing! Cold and windy, but amazing! It took place at their family farm in Waynesboro where we also happened to have photographed the engagement session which you can see here. Nick and Jessica are such a fun and down to earth couple that we feel like we could easily just hang out and kill time with for hours. There’s so much family that lives on the same road right next to the barn and getting to meet everyone on this day in the place that was full of generations worth of family memories was so special.

The wedding day started pretty similar to most where we meet up with the Bride and her bridesmaids while they’re doing hair and makeup and we start on details. We split up here since the girls were getting ready down the road from the venue but some of the details were at the barn. I drove to the barn while Morgan stayed with the girls and then met back up to have the girls pop open a bottle of Champagne and then showing our third shooter where she needed to go as well afterwards. While we were at the Barn, we photographed the guys and then I left to help cover the finishing touches of Jessica’s dress being buttoned. From there, everyone made their way to the barn to do the girls group photos while the guys were hidden away and before we knew it, it was time for guests to start showing up so the Bride snuck away to hide.

Now that it was time for the ceremony, the guys came out to lineup by the doors setup for the entrances to walking down the aisle. The sun was out in full force but so was the wind with a cold front so a lot of people bundled up with blankets which somehow managed to include our third shooter, Kelsey, who had made friends with some family and been invited to get warm with their blanket as well. As everyone made their way down the aisle, it was all smiles and the warmth of family bonds were shining bright. Once the doors opened, Jessica and her Dad made their way down the aisle to where she would be handed off to her now Husband. They shared vows and there were even some funny moments thrown in by the officiant who was Jessica’s Brother. The location was just gorgeous and we couldn’t imagine a better location for them to have said their I do’s. At the end of the Ceremony, they kissed and made their way back up the aisle as husband and wife and hid away just a little bit to the side before everyone that was staying for family photos went to a spot we had picked just behind the ceremony. We quickly went through all of the lists to get everyone inside but not before getting some great photos of the newlyweds together.

It was now time for the ceremony entrance of the newlyweds into the reception at the Barn. They walked in and went straight into their first dance followed by an emotional Father/Daughter dance and then Mother/Son dance that transitioned to Grandmother/Grandson dance half way through. After this, everyone enjoyed some delicious food and conversation. Before too long, a few tables got moved aside to make space for the dance floor so that it could open up and go into all of the other festivities like the anniversary dance and bouquet/garter toss. Just taking a step outside you could see the fire they had going and all of the children running around playing hide and seek. The night was such an intimate reception where everyone knew everyone and were just enjoying being themselves around each other. We did the sparkler exit and then went back into the reception for a while and our night actually came to an end with just having a fun conversation about the bachelor trip before saying goodbye. It was truly an honor to be a part of this wedding day and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Nick & Jessica!

Devin & Morgan

We cannot say enough about this amazing couple. We got to officially meet them both the day of their Christmas themed proposal and knew that we would love to do their wedding day and ended up doing her bridal session as well recently. The House of the Bride always has beautiful dresses and hers was no exception!

Come wedding day, the weather was perfect aside the Georgia pollen everywhere. That didn’t stop anything from being absolutely perfect though! We started off in the cabins with the girls and guys in different cabins and had our third shooter with the guys so that we could do a letter reading and photos of the girls in their robes before they went to change at the venue. Once we finished with the robes, we drove just down the driveway to the actual location where they would get in their dresses and we photographed the details there. Once we finished the details and the girls finished getting ready, we went in for the last bit of Morgan’s mom and mother in law to help button up the dress and finish off the details there like jewelry and shoes and then it was time to take the girls out for their group photos. We went just outside the back door to one of the few even light areas that we had and finished their photos fairly quickly to get ready for first looks with her dad and step dad as well as Devin and Morgan holding hands to pray at the corner. It was a beautiful moment of prayer for the couple just before heading to line up for the ceremony. When we had photographed at this location before, the ceremony was on the other side where this reception took place but the front made for a beautiful ceremony location and everything was perfect. Once everyone made it in place and were ready for the bride to walk, a letter reading that she had done started over the speakers addressing a lot of people individually which is where you see the tears starting with her mom in the ceremony photos. Once the letter stopped and the song switched, the curtains were pulled back for the bride to make her way down the aisle and Devin lost it a little. They exchanged their vows (which had a few laughs) and rings then sealed it all with a kiss. They made their way back up the aisle as husband and wife and threw in a few dance moves a the last minute. The rest of the bridal party followed just behind and they all hid away to get ready for family and full bridal party photos. We ended up on the hill just behind the reception area for the group photos and went through those and the full wedding party photos as quickly as we could so we could walk a little further to another location with the newly weds. The water was higher than the last time we were there and the actual beach by the lake wouldn’t have worked like we wanted so we ended up on the beautiful section of green grass at the bottom of the hill for the rest of their romantic photos as we like to call them. Once that was finished, they hid away to eat before entering the reception so everyone took a minute to eat and the food was delicious!

Fast forward a little bit and it was time for them to be announced into the reception and everyone cheered the happy couple into the dance floor. They went straight into their first dance followed by dances with their parents and then sat down at their table for the toasts. The first toast was a curveball for everyone and they rapped about the couples relationship and story and the others were funny and talking about when they first met Devin or Morgan. Once the toasts were all done, they made their way inside for the cake cutting and the dance floors started opening up to last the rest of the night for socializing and dancing. We got to capture a few photos with an old piece of beautiful furniture that belonged to a family member which so beautiful and really great to be a part of. After that, everyone was dancing for a while until it started getting dark enough for us to do the actual sparkler exit. Once it was dark enough, we setup the two lines and had everyone light and help each other light. We made our way down backwards with the couple following us and they stopped for a kiss in the middle and since they got the good sparklers, we even got a few extra photos after they made it to the end. It was the perfect way to end out the night for us and so we started packing and said our goodbyes as the couple stuck around to hang out with their friends and family that were still there. Once we left, we got to see more of their honeymoon in Cancun on Instagram and are just so happy to know this couple and see their beautiful marriage starting off perfectly!

Rodney & Kassie

We met with Kassie and their coordinator Jamie from Emerald oX back a couple of months ago and got to talk about some of the vision for the wedding day and learned about the couple more like how she loves makeup and they enjoy cookouts and bowling together. We talked about family a little bit and how he proposed and fast forward to the wedding day, we could see some of these small little touches showing up and get to put faces with names from their beautiful little family that they have started together.

On the wedding day, we started off with saying hey and diving right into details and photos of the girls in their robes. Before long, we had the guys outside for their group photos then some video and we took Rodney into another room by himself to read the letter from Kassie. Once we finished that, the girls were in their dresses and we got to photograph Kassie’s mom helping helping finish button up the back and putting the shoes on for her before going outside for the bridesmaid’s photos. Once we finished those up, there was a beautiful moment between the bride and her mom where they were getting teary eyed and holding on for their makeups sake and it was so sweet to be a part of and that set the tone for the letter readings we were about to do for the highlight film of the groom and the bride separately. Rodney and Kassie both got choked up multiple times and we cannot wait for that video to be finished so we can share it! Now at this point, we had finished everything and it was time to get ready for the ceremony so we got our other camera setup and got into position to capture everyone coming down the aisle. Once everyone had made it down the aisle before the bride, we got to see one of our favorite moments where they see each other for the first time. Morgan often notes that it’s her favorite because she’s always getting the video of the groom typically and she loves getting to see groom’s reactions. Rodney held it together pretty well (he got a little misty eyed) but more than anything we could see that he was happy to see her coming down the aisle finally. They exchanged vows and prayed before tying the literal knot (pictured behind them is the rope of 4 strands). Once they had said all of their I do’s and exchanged rings, they sealed their marriage with a kiss before making their way back up the aisle as husband and wife!

Fast forward through the family photos and everything and we get to see them introduced at the reception. They had their first dance together and then we went straight into toasts from the best man and maid of honor before blessing the food and everyone getting some of the delicious food provided by Berry’s Catering. Normally this about the time that we find somewhere and eat a little bit ourselves so we did just that, once everyone had a chance to eat, we headed back to do the cake cutting followed shortly by all of the mother and son dances with their boys and the groom with his mom as well. After that, the dance floor opened up and everyone gathered around the heaters and mingled or danced. The dj even at one point hopped out on the dance floor. It was then time for the bouquet and garter tosses into slow dancing for everyone. At the end of the night, we lined everyone up in front of the venue to do a fake exit where they used balloons and glowsticks for the send off and everyone let go of the balloons as the newly weds kissed at the end of the row. Being that it was a fake exit, everyone then went straight back to the dance floor and continued to party further into the night. We then started to pack up and say our goodbyes as we normally do and we have to say that this was an amazing start to our wedding season this year. It was so joyful and beautifully put together. We are so excited to the Scruggs family and what the future holds for this amazing couple!

Jordan & Cara

We just recently shared their engagement session and mentioned having met with them a while ago at Starbucks and getting to meet the bride’s parents there as well. If you’d like to see their engagement session, click here.

We started their wedding day with saying hey and photographing some of the getting ready with the girls. It was our first wedding working with Taylor even though we already knew her a little and her salon but it was great to capture their work. The Bridesmaids all had a lot of fun and you could hear the laughter throughout venue and with the walls for the guys dressing room and the girls room being shared, they had some hilarious moments with each other. Later once the guys were dressed and had received their groomsmen gifts, we hopped on the golf cart to go down by the water and pinned the boutonniere’s on them all just before doing the group photos. Once we finished their group photos, the groom and his brother shared a moment to take it all in before heading back up to their room so the bride could come out. Once Cara got in her dress with the held from her mom, we then loaded them all onto the golf cart as well to go back down so there was some uniformity to the group photos. It seemed to be a theme that everyone had a great sense of humor and was having a great time throughout the day and the girls group photos was no exception. Once we finished those, we took a few bridal portraits as well and headed back up the hill to get ready for the ceremony. Everyone was making their way in and JJ (the in house coordinator for the venue) started taking grandparents over on the golf cart from the reception venue where most of the attendees were congregating. They formed the lineup just behind the big white curtain once everyone had made their way into the somewhat newly built ceremony venue on the grounds. Everyone made their way in on their que but we really wanted to highlight the groom’s sister and that she clearly loves her brother and shed some tears on her way down the aisle just after him, it was such a great moment. Fast forward just a little bit and the bride makes her entrance and as soon as Jordan (the groom) saw her, he was smiling from ear to ear and you could tell this was the happiest day of their lives. The ceremony went perfectly and they chose pink and black sand for the unity sand ceremony. Once they kissed to seal the deal, they shared an adorable hug and walked back up the aisle as husband and wife with pure joy on their faces.

They quickly signed the marriage certificate with the officiant and we did family photos just behind the ceremony site by this beautiful arch way they have built out of wood from the property. Once we made sure we got everything on the family photo check list, we took the entire wedding party down to the water and got the full group photos and a few silly ones as well. We then sent the bridal party back up and just took a few moments to take some of the newlyweds together with the stunning fall colors and large pond as an amazing backdrop.

Once they were announced into the reception, they went into the dances and after their beautiful dance, the father daughter and mother son dances, they actually all shared one slow dance as couples which doesn’t happen often but we think is such a beautiful thing to do. Fast forward through all of the fun events of the night like the cake cutting and bouquet toss and the kids were making the best of the smores station and bonfire outside while a lot of the rest were inside dancing. They actually did a fake exit and went back into dancing and smores after which gave them probably the longest sparkler exit line we have had the honor of being a part of which was so perfect with the streamed lights that the venue have outside making for even more beautiful and warm light into the joy filled exit. We left shortly after a little bit more dancing and saying bye to the family and newlyweds and are super excited for their future as Mr. and Mrs. Spinks!
