wedding day

Matt & Anna

Well, this one is another one close to heart which is crazy that our past 3 blog posts were good friends before. For some perspective, we photographed their best friends’ wedding back in 2017, their whole friend group getting baptized the following year following great loss of their friends and then Matt also went on a mission trip to Haiti with us in 2019. A lot has happened since then that has brought this couple’s family together even still and getting to know we’ve photographed so many big events for their lives is so special but, this day at a friends event property on the Savannah River of course holds such a huge and special place in the list.

The day itself started with us meeting up with Rashelle (our 3rd shooter for the day) and saying hey to everyone. We instantly grabbed details from Anna for photos and I made my way downstairs with the guys for some getting ready photos and once we finished all of those up, we took the dress outside and got to take some adorable photos of their daughters in the dress just before Anna got into the dress as well. As soon as she was in her dress, we got their boys mic’d up and in place for a first look with Anna and honestly the boys are just hilarious in general and their reactions were funny but they still had a loving moment too which then transitioned straight into the next first look with her Step Dad and Brother. It was super sweet and they all shared some great hugs and that was bringing us close to ceremony time but we had one more thing to do which was their first touch right before for them to just hear each other’s voices and say how excited they were. The ceremony started with everyone being driven down the hill on a trailer attached to the back of a truck and once they hopped off the back and formed a line, everyone made their way down the aisle with a few stars of the show being all of the kids and then their flower man/beer passer outer guy. During the ceremony the whole family came up to complete a unity puzzle and they also exchanged some beautiful and personally written vows. After they said their I-do’s and sealed the deal with a kiss. They walked back up the aisle together as the Joyner’s and as they started taking the chairs up to the reception tent, we transitioned into family and wedding party photos leading into their couple’s portraits which fell into Golden Hour perfectly for some gorgeous sunset light.

As everyone prepared to enter into the reception tent, they all planned out what to do. Once they began entering, they all danced or did something as a fun gesture which the finale was Matt and Anna entering in with a twirl into their first dance. That sweet dance was then followed by Anna and her Step Dad sharing a dance and then Matt and his Mom as well. Everyone then went to get some delicious tacos for dinner. As the night rolled around more and the open dance floor was filled, it began turning more and more into a hilarious and fun party for everyone. At one point they took a break and made their way inside to cut the cake and even shared some with their youngest Blakeleigh. From there, it was even more open dance floor, bouquet and garter tosses then the last big formal event was toasts. They had a few that were planned toasts and then a few that weren’t and it’s easily to tell that everyone loves and cherishes the Joyner family so much. They ranged from everyone crying to everyone belly laughing so, I can only imagine how those will turn out for the wedding videos later. We ended our night with them at the sparkler exit by the front porch and streamed lights which worked out perfectly. We love this family and are excited for their future and seeing the kiddos growing up over the years to come!

Jon & Kim

This wedding day took place at Sacred Heart Cultural Center here in Augusta, GA and we got to work with Tracy Yahn Events and her team for a great and beautiful wedding day celebrating Jonathan & Kimberly. They had a bunch of family coming from all over with a pretty large amount from New York coming in to celebrate which was a lot of fun to meet everyone that we had the chance to meet.

The day itself started super simple with them getting ready and us just grabbing a some details after saying hello to both Jon and Kim as well as all of the vendors there since we already knew everyone super well. Once everyone was ready we took turns taking the couple out with a little bit of family for their photos. Before long, it was time for the ceremony and everyone was in place. We have to say that we don’t shoot at Sacred Heart a whole lot but, it really does just have such beautiful architecture and we love some of these wide shots from the ceremony so much! After they exchanged their vows and completed their unity heart, they sealed the deal with a kiss and walked out as husband and wife! From there, we did a few more family photos and also walked around to do their romantic shots around the venue before splitting off to get ready for the entrance and her dress getting bustled.

Even the entrance into the reception had so much classic charm as the background with Jon and Kim having a ton of fun with their friends and family. As soon as they made it back down to the dance floor, they went into their first dance followed by a group photo of everyone present at the wedding. There were a few toasts and everyone spoke of how they met and how obvious the love between the newlyweds was to notice early on with some funny stories mixed in as well. The toasts were then followed by the dance floor opening but with so many traveling from so far, it was easy to see that they wanted to talk to everyone and mingle as much as possible first then they hopped out to the dance floor closer to the end of the day and had a ton of fun together. We ended our day with them right around sunset with a few photos inside and then just a few quick bridal portraits with the golden hour glow which felt like a great ending to our time with them. These two have already had a ton of success in their careers and have formed a beautiful life together but, I know they have even more great adventure ahead and we are excited to have told the story of the start of the rest of their lives together!

David & Lindsay

As we often do here lately, we met with this sweet couple and the bride’s family a while ago via Zoom. It was very easy to tell that we would enjoy this couple and that Lindsay laughed so much and it was contagious! We had the joy of photographing their engagement session which you can see here. Also recently, we did her bridal session which you can see in the photos at the reception.

Their wedding day started as most weddings where we show up and say hey and then start on details asap. This was actually the first where we brought a little styling board to use for some details which worked out nicely with their colors. Once we finished the details, we did a little bit of the getting ready for the girls and then went to photograph the guys on the other side of the church. A few swedish fish to help Lachlan enjoy the photos even more and we were done quickly then headed back to get Lindsay’s mom helping her with the last few dress details. Once she was all ready, we got her dad to come in for a first look in the same spot that her sisters did and it turned out beautifully! He said it was such a bittersweet moment because it’s his last daughter getting married but he was so happy and proud of her. Then we did a few photos with the girls in front of the church just before they all had to get lined up for the ceremony. The ceremony required us to stay further back which is common in Catholic churches but that’s no problem at all. You can see Morgan had a spot to get on the floor level and I was up on the balcony capturing everyone once they were passing her. Once they both were down the aisle together and all smiles, they said their vows and prayed before getting to kiss and make their way back up the aisle as husband and wife. Once everyone made it up the aisle and the guests were dismissed, we went back to the front for family formals and bridal party photos. We also took a few of the couple here just before heading to the reception.

Once we arrived at the Marbury Center, we quickly hopped into action and photographed details and the inside of the location. Then once the couple showed up, we confirmed details with them and made sure everything was set for entering until we realized we were two groomsmen short but there was no need to fear for they showed up rather promptly after. The couple even shared a short practice dance outside which was such a cute moment. Once the guys arrived, everyone lined up and the dj announced everyone in. Once everyone had danced their way in, the couple came in and went straight into their first dance. Lindsay of course laughing and David of course making her laugh, made for an adorable first dance. Next Lindsay’s father came out for the father-daughter dance which then transitioned into everyone eating and the dance floor opening. Once the dance floor opened, we got to see a moment for one of Lindsay’s sisters watching her husband dance with their daughter while all of the couples slow danced and it was just beautiful to watch take place. The dancing slowed down just a little and it was time to cut the cake so, we all made our way over to get ready and David and Lindsay cut the cake and fed each other. The dance floors then opened back up for a bit and then they did probably one of our favorites parts of the day which was the Dollar Dance which is where you can pay a dollar (or however much you want) by giving to her sister in this case to put in an apron and that allows you a spin with the bride to polka music. In this case, she spun you off to the other side where you could take a shot which made for any even funnier event. This went on for quite a while and we watched Lindsay’s niece and nephew hop back in line (someone was paying their way I am pretty sure) countless times and tiring out the bride. Once everyone had their share of spins, we setup the bouquet toss and garter toss. Then everyone danced a little more and we setup the sparkler exit out front. It was a fake exit so once they joyfully made their way through the row of sparklers, they walked towards their car a little bit then came back to enjoy conversation with their closest friends and family. It was at this point that we got ready to leave but took a few more photos of the kids playing with the last bit of their sparkler in the courtyard out back and then said our goodbyes to the family. We are so excited for the great things this couple has ahead of them and hope to hear some more of Lindsay’s singing sooner than later!
